Abstract

Cage is the main requirement that must be prepared as a means to
smoothen and as a container of livestock media. Micro, small and medium
enterprise sector is engaged in laying chicken farming is still faced with problems
related to the lack of effective function of the cage that there is still potential for
chicken death due to cannibalism, inefficient feeding and low quality eggs
produced.. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the battery cage design in an effort
to overcome the problem. One form of modification is the cage enclosure SP
Models battery. Battery enclosure SP Models is a cage that is designed by
providing divider barrier on each battery box.
The objective of battery cages SP Models which is as follows: 1) Identify
factors causing egg production to be not optimal; 2) Identify conventional battery
cage models and functions; 3) Identify the model and function of SP Models
battery enclosure. Primary data used in this research is observation and in depth
interview and secondary data through literature study. The method used in this
research is fishbone analysis, and descriptive analysis.
The results of this study believe: the factors that cause egg production is
not optimal among human factors, conventional battery cage and environment.
Pareto diagram analysis and descriptive analysis show that the SP Models battery
enclosure has a better function than conventional battery enclosure.
